Tailgating Policy
Tailgating is defined as parking in a designated area while consuming food and beverages (alcohol is permitted) prior to events held at the Bank of Kentucky Center. Tailgating is permitted in Lot D only. Those interested in tailgating must contact the NKU Parking Services Office at least 24 hours prior to the game/event at phone number at (859) 572-5505 or by email at parkingservices@nku.edu. The Parking Services office will manage both the reservations and event day's activities of the tailgating lot.
The following standards have been developed so that Northern Kentucky University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests may enjoy their Bank of Kentucky Center game day or event experience to the fullest. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all in attendance, we anticipate and require your cooperation in observing each of these points.
- The University and the Bank of Kentucky Center reserves the right to restrict any vehicle or person for reasons of safety.
- There will be a $10.00 fee per stall reserved, with a minimum of two stalls, for any group reservation. Any group over ten people will be required to reserve additional stalls at one per each ten guests anticipated.
- Tailgating will be closed at either game time, for single game events, or at the start of the Men's game or start of an entertainment event.
- For safety reasons, all beverages shall be consumed from plastic or paper cups.
- The possession or consumption of alcohol by persons under the age of 21 is strictly prohibited.
- Mass quantities of alcohol including, but not limited to kegs and beer balls are prohibited.
- Open containers of alcohol outside the designated tailgating areas are strictly prohibited.
- Open flame fires, including fire pits are prohibited in parking lots. Propane and charcoal grills are permitted. Hot coals must be disposed of properly.
- Tailgaters are responsible for the disposal of all trash resulting from their activities.
- Services provided by the university for the tailgating activity will be; parking, supervision, police presence, garbage containers and pick-up, and porta-potties.
- Abusive or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. All persons in attendance are expected to respect the safety and enjoyment of others. Disorderly behavior may result in an individual(s) being asked to leave University property
- Tailgaters may not interfere with University functions or University-sponsored activities including, but not limited to, studying, teaching, research, University administration, or fire, police, or emergency services.
- There will be a minimum of one parking attendant and one police officer assigned to the tailgating activities area.
- Tents are permitted with prior approval by the NKU Parking Services Office.
- All NKU students are subject to the code of student rights and responsibilities, as well as local, state, and federal regulations, and are expected to uphold the standards therein.
- Roadways and sidewalks may not be blocked for any reason unless sanctioned by university officials.
- Driving under the influence is illegal in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. State Alcohol laws will be enforced in and around parking lots.
- Solicitation is not allowed on the NKU campus of the Bank of Kentucky Center property without permit. The sale of items by anyone other than University personnel is prohibited unless the University has granted prior approval.
- Please be aware that individuals who violate the above rules and regulations will be asked to leave University property and be subject to legal penalties.
